First Aid Exam Format (please read)

Total: 100%

Theory: 100 marks (50%)
Practical: 50 marks (50%)

Theory: (must get at least 60 marks)
Part A: MCQ (20 questions) – 50 marks
Part B: SAT & Essay (3 questions) – 30 marks
Part C: Spot questions (20 questions) – 20 marks

Practical: (must get at least 30 marks)
CPR:
- Danger: sweep the floor, say ‘area is safe’, positioning (3 marks)
- Response: tap shoulders, ‘hello hello are you ok’, look for breathing, patient condition – unconscious and not breathing (4 marks)
- Call for help: call 999 and get me an AED (1 mark)
- *Chest compressions: location of hands, positioning, speed, depth, successful compressions (10 marks)
- Airway: head tilt chin lift (1 mark)
- Breathing: press nose, open mouth, chest rise, duration of breath, 2 breaths (5 marks)
- Repeat cycle (1 mark)
- Check pulse and breathing (2 marks)
- Speed and precision (3 marks)
- Oral question session (6 marks)

Bandaging: (must get at least half the marks)
- Bandage 1 (7 marks)
- Bandage 2 (7 marks)
